So, I just turned 25 this minute, and my email inbox is swarmed with automated happy birthday messages from forums and stuff. Do these make anyone feel happy on their birthday? I just feel mildly annoyed.

"Hello Michael,

We at _ Forums would like to wish you a happy birthday today!"

Don't get me wrong. I'd be THRILLED if a single friend actually took a moment to call me on the phone (my hopes aren't high, nobody seems to use a freakin' phone anymore), but unheartfelt, computer-generated birthday wishes don't do a whole lot for me.
